
Dr. MacIntyre is a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician. She was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she spent much of her childhood water skiing along the Tennessee River. She completed both medical school and residency at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where she met her husband, now a Cardiology Fellow at the University of North Carolina.
Dr. MacIntyre is known for her radiant smile, compassionate patient-centered care, and her unique ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for patients, providers, and staff. She brings a diverse set of knowledge and skills, with a particular passion for women’s health, obesity and preventive therapies, and adolescent medicine.
In her free time, Kara loves exploring the outdoors with her husband and friends. She enjoys hosting craft nights and visiting local wineries. She even continues to water ski with her family, still performing dazzling back flips years since her last international competition.
